Post FTAO Bill Krause and other SC Owners

Bill,,.tried turning the large screw near the air filter...neither increases nor decreases engine idle speed. The car starts and runs fine but when it starts warming up it stalls and wont idle. When I drive it, it doesnt accelerate smoothly. When re-installing the engine, is there something I may have moved (i.e. idle setting) or not put back properly?
At the moment it will stall at every junction which is not very good.

How much are you turning it? It takes a lot of turns to move the idle much. Make sure you're turning the right thing.

Bill....I think the one I am turning is the screw below number 12 on this diagram. Is that correct? And I did turn it a lot.

That's the right one. I agree with lagoon, maybe when re-installing the engine you opened up some vacuum leak somewhere. I'd check the bypass hoses on the back that connect the AAR and AAV or maybe the oil breather hose.

I just had to replace my fuel pump on my 83SC.My car started idleing rough but ran fine, when cold, it would not respond very well till it warmed up,them it developed a backfire when I had the clutch in and it was in gear.It did this for about a week while I tried to troubleshoot these problem.I was on my way to a friends house for help and it died.
Would not start, I was at a red light about two blocks from his house. My fuel pump was gone AND my intake runners were gone too.
The backfire was a vacuum leak at one of my intake runners and the rough idle was the fuel pump. When you attempt to adjust your idle are you doing this when it is cold ?

Whats AAR and AAV? I am adjusting idle when warm. Anything else I can check on tonight? I put on a new oil breather hose as part of the maintenance. I will recheck all hoses etc

Aux Air Valve and Aux Air Regulator. Items #36 and #39 in the parts diagram from earlier. Check all the hoses going to those items, and the oil breather hose that goes to #47. Those hoses would be easy to snag on something when you installed the motor. Also check that #18 is seated securely and tight.
