Where do I get hard brake lines?

Where can I get some hard lines for a '72 911? Our host only shows a couple, but they aren't the ones I need. Do I need to get these from a dealer (and be violated in the process!)?

Thanks.
Roger

Try calling Pelican and ask them. Anything that Porsche carries, I think they still honor a wholesale discount to parts houses. You can get it cheaper through them than buying it yourself often times. The thing to avoid is buying from someone who wont let you return parts.

Try calling Pelican first, and then there are a few good places listed in excellencemag.com if they are a no go.

Local auto parts store?

Haycait911,

Are you sure those were "hard lines" you got at the parts store? I suppose they might have the flex lines but I doubt most parts stores around here (Chicago) would have hard lines for a 36 yr old Porsche, or any Porsche for that matter. I usually have two options for Porsche parts, mail order or the dealer.

Thanks.

You can buy them in various straight lengths and you bend them yourself with a dedicated bender. The thing is, some of the lines on a 911 are a little shorter than the lengths available. So, you end up with a double flaring tool in your tool box. If you can find the exact line already formed, that is the way to go. Hard brake lines don't were out very easily, but they can have rust in them. Used lines are an option.

AS mentioned, call Pelican. If they can't help you, then it's open season on the Net.

I had these guys make mine: http://store.fedhillusa.com/

I think it's the closest to OEM you'll find.

I went with the set from Stoddard...

I got a 10 piece hard line set from Stoddard for $45. I found a reference to this in another thread. This would seem like a pretty good deal, not to mention easy.

FWIW - I showed the broken line to a co-worker who was a former racer himself and he was "appalled" by the rusty condition. This got me thinking that I should probably replace everything (except the tunnel line). Especially since it is a DE, soon to be Club Race, car.
