Next Monday, my car goes in for paint. It'll be gone a week. I haven't personally met every employee or every employee's friend, so I'm ordering new door locks and new ignition lock anyway.
Am I paranoid? I call it safe, but I'll order it all from Pelican if someone can direct me, and if the job isn't too overhwhelming (want all the keys to match, unlike 914 which required no less than 3, yes 3 keys, on for each door and one for the ignition due to door handles breaking and being replaced). ------------------ Kurt B '84 Carrera Cab. carrera_cabriolet@yahoo.com |

you have to remove the steering lock/ignition switch, and the handles and have a locksmith rekey them all. no parts, just labor. the handles are off anyway for the paint job, hopefully.

Considering the ignition lock mechanism is over $300, you may want to call a locksmith to see about re-keying them.

Or you can do the doors yourself. Check out the Pelican Tech Article. http://www.pelicanparts.com/techarticles/mult_lock_rekey/mult_lock_rekey.htm
