Steering wheel covering

The covering on the spokes of the steering wheel in my 1988 911 is cracked. Where can I send the wheel to have it repaired?

If you don't want to do it yourself, I think the main company is called AGLA, as in American Gun Leather Something. They also sell kits, and I'm guessing that's what Pelican sells.

Me, I prefer the upgrade-to-a-Momo-wheel approach, having gone both ways...

wdfifteen,

buy the kit from our host. I just recovered mine from a 79SC and it looks and feels great. I wanted a thicker wheel, so I removed the stitching from my old cover but left it in place and it now feels so much better in my hands, hard to believe. Another tip I picked up here, go to Michaels and buy some of the artificial sinew, about $5, it is much stronger and kinda waxy. Be sure to twist it before you start sewing, otherwise is might tend to cut the pre punctured holes in the AGLA covering. Use two needles and just lace like tennis shoes, kinda slow work, but very rewarding.

AGLA (Alan Gunn Leather Accessories) has gotten some pretty mixed reviews. Some people waiting months for their wheels. Slow. A few have gotten them on time.

There is another company that does it, but I cannot find them right now.
