Distributor repair

I was getting inconsistent advance from my 79 911SC distributor. I removed the distributor and disassembled it for cleaning, I found that one of the red bushings on the mechanical advance assembly was missing (the other one was cracked). See an image below of what the bushings should look like:

Is there a source for these bushings? I don’t want to buy a complete distributor because of a couple of bushings!!!

Thanks, Stu

Stu:
Bosch USA advised a while ago that mechanical parts are no longer available.
I suggest you find a shop that repairs these older distributors, it might need a curve-check anyway.

I think Bosch is starting up their rebuild program for these distributors. The first "seed" distributors may actually be new, since they need to send out cores.

Where do you get this info from?
Can you provide an address, or website?
Very interested in some concrete details.

Sent them an email. We'll see if they sell the individual parts... does not look like it though. I have the same issue. Small red cracked plastic bits...

The last recommendation was to buy a used dist. and cannibalize it. However, I'm not sure a used dist. will be in any better shape... I have considered having them made. The bits that the springs go on would be impossible with out molding them, but the washers and advance 'knobs' could be done very carefully. The washers I bet could be found in a standard size or close to it as they are not that critical. The knobs, on the other hand, I would want to match in diameter for sure...

Best regards,

Michael

Thanks for replies.

I tried a number of sources but didn’t get any results. I ended up just making them on a lathe (I used Vespel, a hard plastic similar to the original material)

Thanks, Stu
