Post Tachometer

Does anyone know what the second wire from the DME to the tach is about. Throughout the model years the black and violet wire has carried the tach signal, but in the late model cars there is a black wire in addition from the DME to the tach. What does it do?

If my memory serves me correctly, I believe the wire is for the shift light.

There is also a green wire that runs from the tach to the speedo.

Thanks Jim , this fits, the PO has cut the black wire in the DME connector, guess they didn't want to see the shift light.
