Positive Battery Cable Taps?

Are the the 3 wires tapped from the side of the positive battery cable standard or do they look like custom power taps?

I did a little testing and found that one cable seems to power the ignition circuit and a different wire seems to power the fuel pump. The car starts and runs without the third wire (the one disconnected in the picture). During a battery drain test, I found the third wire draws approximately 40mA.

I am thinking it is either part of the standard security system or to a kill switch of some type that I have not found yet.

Any ideas?

I don't believe that's stock. Could it be powering an audio amp?

I do not have a separate audio amp. The audio head, cd changer and power antenna all work with out the key in the ignition and with out the 3rd wire.

Update: Upon further testing, I found that the 3rd wire powers the power windows and sun roof. So why would the ignition and fuel pump have direct power connections to the battery?

I've had a look at my 1985 911 and it looks pretty much the same.

I did a quick check in my Bentley manual and found a reference to a red wire from the (+) battery post going to the power distribution system This appears to be the large main cable attached to the (+) post in my picture.

I found another reference to a black wire from the (+) battery post going to the starter.

I found another reference to a red wire from from the (+) battery post to the DME relay. That is probably the small red wire that is attached in my picture and explains why I need the small red and black wires attached to start the car.

The last reference I found was for a red wire from the (+) battery post going to the Luggage Compartment Fuse Box that is labeled "Hot at all Times" and powers the windows. This is the red wire that is disconnected in my picture.

I am satisfied now that I can account for all the wires! Thanks for your help.
