help restoring SWB steering wheel please.
can someone help me? what goes between the leather pad and the metal backing disc? foam? or something else. any help much appreciated. Don.

Hey Don,
Yes, there should be a seperate foam piece there. They typically dissolve to dust. Do a search on the S Registry board. Couple of really good threads there on the different types of early horn buttons and restorations. Cheers

Don, I had the same problem on my 66 912. I finally found some very thin foam around 2mm thick, I cut 3 discs with different diameters and stacked them on top of each with just a small tap of glue. that gave me the desired crown.

I cut a circle out of a Meguiars foam waxing pad. The pads are two pieces of foam bonded together around the edges and the thickness of one of the halves was perfect.
