Do you know how to remove the center console on 87 Targa.

Do you know how to remove the center console on 87 Targa.

I drove it early last night and entering on the interstate I heard a rattle. Can imagine a little bolt missing in my shifter underneath the leather boot area. Want to take a QUICK peek.

Am I entering WEVO land. I'm telling my self no.

The G50 and the shifter has done everything positive that has been propounded about shifting and reliablity, and I shift it smoothly. Trans fluid has about 5000 miles max. Clutch slave although not bled anytime recently should be good.

Thank you.

Regards,

There are screws , one on the left , the other on the right , and one at the handbrake level if i remember correctly.

Just did this - You have to remove three screws. One under the carpet at the rear of the console. Pull back the carpet trying not to rip it too much. The other two hold the console to the tunnel and are under the black cover at the front of the console. That's held on by 4 screws. You will see the two holding it down only after you remove the cover.

Saw a solution on Monday night on Top Gear. . .You "might" not want to do that, however. It involved a very large rifle (and associated round of ammunition) and firing straight down. Isn't there a gas line in the area between the seats? :) Anyway, it seemed expeditious.

Well, it might not help you but the attached pic of my '86 Carrera as we were deleting the console sure will make you feel better!!http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1206583712.jpg

Seriously, after we got the console deleted, the carpet replaced, and the new RS door panels installed it turned out really good.

Shifter makes some noise if it hits the surrounding metal. There is a foam that has deteriorated. There is a vibration but not from the shifter. It is ok. I do need some type of foam in there. Don't I.

The rt rear sway bar mount is broken. I'll have that rewelded.
