993 Temp Sensor connector Help???

I am installing a 993 motor into a 914-6 yes, a 914-6. Here the deal, I get the harness at it has Bosch style connectors on it, no problem, but the sensors on the engine are some square connector which obviously do not fit.

So I call the only Porsche parts guy I have found who says yep, you need to update the connectors on the harness, I get my package today, and because I do not have a wiring diagram, I have no idea if I maintain the relationship of the Bosch connector, and transfer the individual wires (and new connectors) into the new connector in the same position, or if in their infinite wisdom, Porsche decided to change the position of the individual spades in the terminal.

Has anyone ever run across this, or can anyone help. I would like to hear this car run this weekend.

Sensors: Cylinder head temp
Knock sensor 1
Knock Sensor 2
RPM pickup/Flywheel sensor

Please help.

Thanks

I am not 100% sure where your talking about but if you have the correct engine harness+ DME harness you should not have this problem.

There is some mods that you have to do to the harness but I am sure other pelicans will chime in soon.

Post a pic of the problem area

So basically, you're asking like if terminal one is a brown wire and terminal 2 is a green wire on the old connector, is it the same on the new connector?

Thanks for the replies guys. Aaron Holstrom, noted Porsche mechanic from Bob Hinson Racing in Kansas City helped me out. By the way, if you go to their website, you will find one of the nicest racecar builds I have ever seen. Very clean and effective. He is planning on competing in E Production in SCCA in the midwest region. He built the entire car himself !

Anyone looking to do this sensor upgrade will need this info:

All knock, speed, and cyl head temp sensors that Porsche supplies new, will have this "upgraded" connector and terminals when replaced, this upgrade will go back to all (Speed, Knock, temp) sensors from 1980 forward.

I need to re-wire a harness/connectors just like this…

Which connections are 1,2 & 3 on all the connectors (Green, White, Black)?
I ordered the replacement connector and I don’t see any numbers on them.

Does anyone have the Porsche Bulletin?

I figured it out, the connectors are labeled. Real small hard to see…
Here’s a picture for future reference.

Picked connector at random. 99965291640.

Both the "genuine Porsche" listing at our host Porsche Electrical Plug Housing for Reference Sensor - 99965291640 - Genuine Porsche and the listing for the Bosch part Porsche Electrical Plug Housing for Reference Sensor - 99965291640 - Bosch 1-928-402-868 have photos that show the connector body numbered on the side that the assembled wire/terminal/seal is inserted into.

Per the photo, with latch uppermost, terminal voids labelled '3', '2', '1' left-to-right.

Rotating it 180 degrees to look into the "face" of the body (so that wires facing away from you), terminals will be arranged '1', '2', '3', left-to-right.
