Question Wiring on wiper motor

I am installing a wiper motor from a 70 in my 77, the linkage and everything fits but the wiring is different. The car has 5 wires:
Black/purple
green
Black/yellow
Blue/white
Red/white

The motor has 4 connections with wires that are:
Yellow
Black
Blue
Red
and a connector for ground

Anyone know what wires should go where???? Even a few eliminated would be helpful. Thanks

Shawn

The wiring on my '66 912 is as follows: Brown-chassis ground; Black/purple-switched power from wiper switch; Red-constant power from fuse box (for self-parking feature); Blue-medium speed.

A semi-educated guess for your application would be: Red/white wire from car to red wire on motor (most likely power from fuse box for park postition); Blue/white wire to blue wire on motor(most likely medium speed); Black/yellow wire to yellow wire on motor(either high or low speed); and Black/purple wire to black wire on motor(whichever speed is left).

911's almost ALWAYS use solid brown wires for chassis ground on components-clean the wires to make SURE what color they really are-sometimes paint overspray gets on them and makes the color hard to determine until you clean them or pull back a few inches of the outer covering. Also, use a meter to test each of your car's wires to see which have voltage (and how much, at each switch position,) and which are grounds-then test each of the motor's wires for continuity to the frame of the motor itself-if there is one, obviously don't connect it to a voltage source! If there's more than one, the motor may be shorted internally-but if you tested it, or know for SURE it's good at all speeds (by this I mean you saw it run yourself), then you should have only one wire with a ground potential on the motor-or just a ground connection somewhere.

I checked Pelican's site, but they don't have color diagrams for either a '70 or a '77-so I hope you've got a good service manual. Good luck, and let us know what you find out.
