Another Noob Check-In
Sold the Lotus 51 to a fellow in Canada in 2003 and decided to get something a bit more practical. A 1982 911 SC. Not a Lucas piece on it, although the replacement silver, Brazilian coil with the Bosch sticker might qualify.
Well I've been lurking for four years, bought a lot of stuff from Wayne, and saved thousands learning to insert slot 'A' into tab 'B' prior to crimping the one time only locktab in the wrong position. I'll try posting the obligatory picture. Bet you've never seen one of these.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1206939025.jpg Taken on a trip to Death Valley, which was a round-tripper, despite early protestations of the wifey to take the Buick. P-Car ran like the proverbial tank. I want to thank all of you contributors for your input and pictures. I've taken many pics of my 911 projects. If I get a bit more adept at this electronic stuff, maybe I can post and help someone else. |

Geez, is that a big front wing on your car or is that a sunshade? That thing is huge! :)

Flieger, thank you. We should meet but I don't know how to "shoot PM's." I couldn't find your e-mail address but I'm sure it's in here somewhere.
Draco, not sure of the color white as it was a poor re-spray by the p.o. over an ivory white, but it appears to be a P-Car color. I had to remove all the body parts down low and re-paint, powdered painted the front valance and added the factory rubber lip. Billybek, the wheels are the stock chrome Fuchs. Pretty bright in direct sun. Gh85, merely small dive planes to aid turn-in at speed. Other pics: Figuring out the steering wheel re-cover. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1207026354.jpg Fire extinguisher install. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1207026425.jpg Squaring up the alternator wiring with new alternator including dead bird removal. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1207026623.jpg Servicing the rack. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1207026871.jpg Installing new suspension bits and a set of Chuck's front & rear. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1207027162.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1207027242.jpg Also had to switch out this. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1207027458.jpg For this. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1207027584.jpg Sorry for all the pics. Once you figure it out it's kind of addictive. |

To 'shoot a PM' just click on his name (blue), then click 'Send a Private Message to XXXXXXX'.
That's it. FWIW, Fuchs were never chromed 'stock'. In fact, the chrome will eventually flake off - it doesn't stay on Fuchs. |
Yeah, click on my name on my post. I'm OK with giving my email: maxsluiter@earthlink.net
Are you going to the Festival of Speed on Saturday/Sunday? I am Great racing:D |
