Remove plastic air mixing box below front vent?
Car is a 74 911. I have water leaks which originate at the vent just below the windshield wipers. I'm not sure if the problem is the seal just behind the grille (between the body and the large center air mixing box) or the air box itself. Can anyone tell me what holds the box in? No nuts or bolts are obvious. Thanks, Jim

Remove intake grill at the base of the windshield.
Beneath you will find (2) hex-headed machine screws. Remove them to release the airbox/fan housing. Don't forget to remove the vent control cables, vent hoses and fan motor connector. At the bottom side of the air box is a drain hose that directs water to another hose through a hole in the trunk, then to the outside. One or both hoses are typically rotted, dislodged or missing. This allows rain or wash water into the smugglers box > interior via A/C evap. housing or directly into the trunk area. Sometimes, the hose is plugged with grunge and unwanted, long-term water storage is the result. Hope this helps, Sherwood |

Many thanks Sherwood, just what I needed to know. I'll take a look tomorrow and see if I can sort this out. JIm
