Festival of Speed at Fontana - who's going Saturday?
I'd like to head up there this Saturday and am wondering who's planning to make it.

Well, we should caravan, then. Maybe we can get the gang to come along.

Hey Scott,
what's going on over there this Sat? I heard of a bunch of old Porsche race car will be running there on Sat. Do you know what time? I like to bring my 2 year old. Get him started early. I love to hear and see them run and go home after an our or two. He can only last for a couple of hours. Jeff |

So do we get there, sit in the stands, and watch the cars do laps?
-- Anything else? Vendor stands, track laps for Pcar drivers, food, etc.....

I checked their flyer online yesterday and I believe there is all of that, Luis. Let me get on the site again and check.

Alright, here's the deal, according to Laura Hergesheimer of Hergesheimer Motorsports, who knows all about these things (I just called her).
The event is open to the public and for the nominal entry fee (something like $10-20), spectators have full access to everywhere - the infield area, the stands, the entire pits (she says that track has an awesome pit area), the concessionaire's stands, etc. Laura assured me the event is great fun for non-participants, partly because we have access to everything and are right down in the mix of things (unlike the Nascar fans, who apparently do not normally have open access like that). Laura said to be there by about 8 AM. She said that there's a great breakfast place called Farmer Brothers and it's off the Cherry exit - Left on Cherry to get to the track, right on Cherry to get to the restaurant. She said that when we get to the gates, we will eventually be led down to a Registration building where you sign an event waiver form (which allows us into the infield), we pay our money and are issued an armband. She said they will park all of the Porsches in a Porsche Corral of sorts. Anyway, sounds like fun. Who's coming? |
