Need a value on 72 911S

Hey Guys, I have found a 1972 911S which has been parked in an underground garage for the last 5 or so years. I only know that the interior is shabby but not rotten and the body is 99% straight and rust free. The motor seems to be in place and I see no evidence of fire or major damage.

Can anyone give me an idea or point me to a guide as to the rough value of this car so I can have some idea with which to negotiate the purchase of this car?

Thanks, - NormSmileWavy

A really lot.

We would need the exact location and a phone number to give a close guesstimate. ;)

At this time there are "S"s on the market at $200K, $98K, all the way down to the $Teens.

In other words the range is very wide and it is all about condition.

Go in with your eyes open and know what it will take to get it to the condition you will be happy with.

Do not think investment, think enjoyment.

Big grins:D:D

What does the owner want? You don't want to tip off the owner that his car might be valuable, but at the same time, you don't want to insult them with a low ball offer.

If the car hasn't been run in 5 years, I would offer $8k... and hope if it works.

It is critical to the pricing that the motor # match with the car's serial #. That means it is worth $40k or up.

If not, then maybe $20k or up.

Can't really say w/o more info on condition, condition, condition...

I agree you should find out an asking price.

I am aware of a recent transaction for an early S for just under $200k. This is the exception. Condition and provenance are everything. Please give more info on condition and records. You're somewhere between $10k and $200k. Does that clear things up?
