I put a few coats of primer on my fiberglass shroud, and it seems to come off (down to the fiberglass) pretty easily.
For those of you who have had a lasting paint job on your fiberglass shroud, how did you do it, and what kind of primer and paint did you use? Thanks!! ------------------ Michael '78 911SC Euro |

I sanded mine and used engine block spray paint. No primer, just sprayed it straight on.
I actually tried first cleaning it with cleaners, then tried buffing it out to clean it up, then tried sanding to see if I could get it as clean as I wanted. Looked better, but not good enough, so I painted it. Held up perfectly so far, its been a few years now. |

Sand it with 600 grit then use a two part (hardner) primer. Paint shouldn't let go then!

Just like they do on those Plasic Pieces of Crap (vettes). Use a self etching primer, then paint. With all the possible contaminants on that shroud, I would deffinetly clean and prime first.
