Porsche Crest I love my Carrera Tail. Thanks gpc turbo!

Well I took the plunge! My car was delivered to Ohio, from Zuffenhausen, on 7/16/87 with among other option, a sports package. Somewhere along the way a previous owner took the Carrera Tail off. The purist in me wanted the car to be as close to factory as possible. Well forget about the thirty or forty other mods. I bought the tail from gpc turbo. What a great guy to deal with!! The packaging was first rate and I believe it must have cost more to ship than I was charged. The tail was in perfect shape, as described in the post. I love dealing with fellow Pelicans! How do you like it?

I am installing a custom made exhaust system from Ben at M&K this week. More photos to follow.

Car looks great. My friend has always called Guards Red "prick red". I guess that stems way back to when they were the yuppy car of choice back in the 80's.

Is that a new tail already painted or a used one...or did you have it painted?

Personally, I love it! I like the aero 964 mirrors too. Sport cloth seats? Any closer pics of them?

A mighty fine ride...

I think you'll be real happy with the M&K muffler. I installed one of Ben's muffler recently. I removed the mounting bracket from my heater cross over pipe so I used 2 of Ben's hose clamps, both the same size. I then purchased 4 hose clamps like the muffler clamps that Ben furnishes for the heater cross over pipe for the hose connection. Now I wasn't trying to fit the cross over pipe to the muffler which made everything a lot easier.

Porsche Crest My 50K Carrera

The seats are from a 1993 RS America. The tail was already painted by gpc turbo, but, the paint color was not a perfect match and the cyclops tail light mounting holes needed to filled and repainted. The quality of his paint work, however, was excellent. The first photo is before the mods. I already have a M&K muffler. Ben made me an entirely custom setup from SSI's, two cats and a 2 in 1 generation 5 muffler.

Beautiful car, really nice.

but

Where is the purist in you when it comes to the mirrors? They cry out that the car isn't as Zuffenhausen intended. In 1987 anyway.

each to his own I guess.

Your car looks fantastic!
Did you install the aero mirrors yourself?
Are they electric, and do they work?

I've seen this car in person. It is nearly concours. Only things keeping it from a 100 pt. car are the mods. It would take the blue ribbon at a wash and shine any day.

AFA prick red, well, people have had to come up with some derogatory remark for just about everything. In fact, red was so popular that it was better known as "retail red."

I think he told me it was from a 964 and has an A/C condenser built in as well. I could never find such an animal.

C2 cooler is much bigger, I don't think it could be fitted like shown in photos.

"My $50K Carrera" Ha! That's funny. I feel you completely, Mnmasotto.

(Not intending to hijack your thread, but) My $55K Carrera:

Our cars look almost identical!

Great pictures, Mnmasotto! I love Guards Red!
