Testing 6 pin CDI
Is it possible to test a 6 pin CDI off of the car?
I have two and didn't mark my original or the one I picked up for a spare. Tkamks Lorne M. 83 SC most of it still in boxes. |

I have mine on the bench now as the main capacitor failed and I have now replaced and tested it. You really need a signal generator, oscilloscope, DVM and a makeshift coil. I used my car battery as power for the whole setup.
It might be simpler in your case to just fit each box on the car to check they are OK. If you understand analogue electronics, transistor and thyristor operation and theory then it is fun to dabble on the bench if you have the kit. If you have the test kit available and want to dabble then I don't mind explaining some more. There is a great thread on here already about 6 pin CDI units try searching… Hope this helps Regards Steve |

Thanks for the info, I copied all of that info and will make up a manual to have but most of that is away above my capabilities.
I was hoping for a simpler method not like brain surgery. Thanks again Lorne M.
