gas flap

So has anyone had the gas release cable come loose and pull completely out, with the gas flap still closed?

Hmmmm, how do you open the gas flap another way so I can re-attach the cable??

Help, I'm running out of gas . . .

Underneath the gas cap area, there are three allen bolts that keep the cap on the fender. I'm sure if you unbolted them then the thing would come out. Piece of cake.

It's trunk if you live on this side of the pond (USA) and bonnet if you live on the other side of the pond (UK).

Deane:

All you need to do is disconnect the return line in your engine compartment and use that to fill your tank. Pelican has a special adapter for just this application (part number WrongTul 2.0)

Seriously, there is a thread here or at Rennlist (http://forums.pelicanparts.com/forums.rennlist.com) that I vaugely remember. Broken Fuel Tank Cable

I think it goes something like this:

I think you can release the gas flap by taking some strong fishing line and slip it between the flap and the body. You start at the sideclosest to the windshield and wrk it forward to catch the hook that hold the flap down and tug. Voila! It's then opened.

I love it. A little humor (just a little), and six replies later, his problem is solved. No rancor, no Bush bashing, no 928 is better than a Miata stuff. Just good clean info.

That is what this site is all about!

Nobe here. Took her out for the final ride and fill up before moth balls and dryer sheets. Pull up to the pump, pull on the cable to pop gas door lid and the cable just kept coming. Contemplated using key to try and pry open but drove home instead. I got it open with an old shoe lace (very redneck).

My question is there a set screw or something that holds the flap end of the cable? Could it have fallen down the drain tube? Part #?

Thanks.
