Question Do you know this dealer?

Does anyone out there have any experience with Daniel Schmitt & Co. out of St. Louis? I am on the east coast and a long way away from alot of 911's. I came across this dealer and he looks pretty good. Just wondering if anyone has dealt with him.

Thanks in advance,

Flytyer

Definitely do a search! Some bad experiences, some good (like mine). Bottom line is IF you are careful and diligent, you can get a great car from them at a fair price. Definitely no bargains to be had though.

They misrepresent cars at times... but, I suspect it’s more out of the fact they just don’t know what they have. On occasion I have called them about a few cars and they’ve subsequently changed their description of the car. I’ve also seen their buyer running around bidding on many cars at the Manheim auctions, I suspect that’s where they get their inventory from. They charge a decent premium over the market value of these cars, but most dealers do. If they have a car you like and you don’t mind paying “up” a bit for it there is nothing wrong with buying from them IMO but a PPI is a MUST. A word to the wise though, don’t get sucked into their "trade in" sight unseen deal they talk about. They’ve been known to settle on a price for your car after photos and such then lower the price once you arrive. Its been noted as a favorite tactic of theirs. Like all dealers they want to buy your car as low as they can and sell you theirs as high as they can. I guess that’s capitalism, and they have the market power to do it.

Its only a market when they have willing buyers....Yup paying a prem on over priced car and paying taxes on that same car is fun

Not to highjack this thread or anything, but I went to motion's thread, and then to rennlist.com to search for the bad experiences with Schmitt and the Rennlist guys. As I am in the 993 forums, I look all over for the "search" button, but I just can't find it! Someone in motion's thread said that the search buttion is in the upper right hand corner of the webpage. I am looking all over and still can't find it! Do I have to be a rennlist member to access the "search" function?

Thanks.

I found a car at Daniel Schmitt. Gave a $2000 deposit, signed a letter of intent, and the morning the car was to be picked up to be taken for a PPI, they called me on the phone and told me they sold the car to another buyer!!!
I got my deposit back but something was very fishy. This car looked great!! I had the local PCA chapter pres recommend the a mechanic for the PPI. I spoke with the mechanic and set everything up, PPI, Compression, Leakdown...
Daniel Schmitt fought me the entire way. They did not like the garage I had arranged, and wanted me to take it to another place. I told them that i am not from St Louis, and i trust the PCA's recomendation, they were unhappy. They refused to bring the car for the PPI, too busy, and refused to have the mechanic pick it up. the mechanic actually offered a loaner car so that whoever brought the car in could return to work for the day!! again they refused. I agreed to pay the $150 for a flatbed, and then the morning the truck was coming to bring her to the test, i got the call that they car sold to another buyer. I had agreed to pay full price, and never haggled, as long as the PPI was to my liking.

I am sure that this beautiful car that i wanted would not have passed the tests. I guess i'm lucky in a way, but i realized that Classic Car dealers, are still only sleezy used car salesmen...

I've had a few friends purchase vehicles from them and everything went well.
One guy I know purchased 2 Porshces and a Mini Cooper from them is now going back for a possible third Porsche,

They are at the same location with European Performance which from what I here has an excellent reputation for service.
