Can anyone tell me what estimated annual maintenance for a mid-90's C4 would be (most specifically 94-96, manual trans, 25k-50k mile cars).

Stan,
The 94 C4 is the '964' version of the 911, whereas the 95-98 C4's are the '993' version of the 911. Thus, the maintenance costs will vary between the cars. I own a 964 C2 (92 model), and the maintenance costs really depend on whether the car is a daily driver or weekend only car. I drive mine daily (about 50 miles), and my monthly maintenance costs have come out to about $175 per month. That's for ROUTINE maintenance. My car is in excellent condition. A scheduled service is required every 15,000 miles at about $800. Oil changes are $125 (I have mine changed every 7500 miles). Throw in the occasional brake fluid change, transmission fluid change, etc., and it's easy to get to $150 or more per month. A clutch job is almost $2000. If it's a weekend only car, then the maintenance costs obviously will be considerably lower. I typically go many months without any maintenance costs, and then get hit with a big bill. The 993 should be a little less expensive to maintain because it doesn't need valve adjustments and should be more reliable than a 964. However, there is a pretty considerable price jump from the '94 964 (if you can find a good one) to the '95 993. Based on my 911 hunt last year, it was difficult to find a good, relatively low mileage 92-94 964. [This message has been edited by Drew_K (edited 05-14-2001).] |
