Targa bar - quarter panel attachment

I am making a rust repair to my '72 911T and I have a problem. The part of the quarter panel that butts up to the targa bar and the filler plate were apparently repaired poorly by a PO. The rusty junction was just glopped with epoxy and filler and smoothed over and painted. Now that I am making repairs, I don't quite know how the rear fender is supposed to attach to the targa bar/filler plate. Is the fender just butt welded to the filler plate? Does anyone have pictures or schematics of this? The parts manual is no help. I thought I would post this here rather than the body/paint forum since it will reach a larger audience.

Here is a pic of mine. Looks like it is welded. Car is in paint right now.

Thanks Charlie V. That is exactly what I needed to know.
