What Battery?
I've got an Odyssey Battery, but unless you keep it on a trickle charger, it seems to drain when sitting for semi-extended periods of time. I never had this problem when I was running my dual conventional batteries. Unfortunately I live in an apartment building where leaving a trickle charger on my car just isn't possible so I want to go back to dual conventional batteries. But my old ones are long gone and I don't remember what they were other than I know they were made by Interstate. Can you guys help me figure out what batteries I should be running. Car is a 1972 with a 964 3.6 liter engine and I want them to fit in the stock locations. I don't have any accessories to worry about, infact not even a radio. Thanks for any help you can give me

Hi !!!
You can purchase an Optima battery 730A ; 44Ah if no accessories use. ![]() There's no dedicated tray on my own that can be installed in our 911....battery place is limited..... I've re- used factory fixing system and additionnal strap (female and male , i don't know the word). In that way , the Optima can't move at all .

cdrik915, thanks, but I think I want to just go with traditional batteries. The Odyessey's a great battery I've heard it's better than the Optima's as far as these types of batteries go, but I rarely use the car and I don't have a trickle charger which is a necessity for these types of batteries. That's why I want to go back to the standard batteries.

You might have a slight current drain which may not have been noticeable with two batteries. Locate the drain source and that'll save the Odyssey.
The Odyssey is lighter than an Optima. Otherwise, no other advantage. The Optima has a higher CCA rating for a little more margin, but a drain of any significance will discharge any battery in no time. The twin battery options that don't pose a hazard to extended sheet metal life are few and far between. Sherwood PS: I heard the Sonnenscheims were NLA. Please check the above source to confirm. |
