1974 open-ended corded rubber pipes
i Guys,
A few Questions, Whilst fixing the windscreen washer pipes/motors on my 1974 911 car I found the following, two series of open-ended corded pipes in the hood/bonnet area running alongside the fuse panel battery area. 1) corded rubber pipe one starts at the brake servo unit-overflow pipe? 2- corded rubber pipe two which starts around the fuse panel area, which smells of fuel,so much so that drawing a vaccuum on it will appear to draw fule, i'm particularly worried about this pipe. Both pipes are open, and I'd pushed them out through the front wing grommits for now . are they supposed to be open ended? Cheers, Jaz

One probably is the master cylinder overflow and the other goes the the charcoal canister.

I'll bet your car doesn't have the vapor emission control system--expansion tank, collection tank, charcoal canister. The hoses you describe, along with the smell of fuel, suggest some or all of the components are missing. Do a search, there have been some excellent diagrams posted in the last week which covers this exact topic.
