Accel Pedal Fitment in early car

I have a 71 car and am in need of a Good accel pedal. Will the Later 76 style pedals fit but just not be period correct?

I just installed an aftermarket pedal in my Carrera. The instructions and the parts indicated and included 2 different length push rod assemblies, but the bolt up is the same from day one as well as the 914; all the same. So, methinks if you keep the rod with the ball end, you can use any pedal you find.

How will I know if the Accel rod I have now will be long enough to accomodate the later model style pedal?

That has to do with your tunnel linkage, not the pedal itself. You see, the one I installed had an adjustable pedal height feature which required replacing the rod. If you don't do that, you just swap in the pedal AFAIK.

I have a 1973 and I believe I used a 1974 pedal, it fit properly and works great.
