How to find Neutral when shift rod was detached.
 

I have the rear of my car on Jack stands. When the engine is runnung the wheels spin. This happens in ALL gear positions including where I think should be neutral. When it is in "neutral" The wheels spin slow and I can easily stop them with my hand. When I release the wheels they start to spin again? Yes, your car IS in neutral...with the wheels slowly spinning, and being able to stop them with your hands.........
This is typical of a gearbox with the rear tires off the ground----You do not have limited slip...your trans will turn whichever tire that has the least resistance...try it sometime with one rear tire on the ground and the other jacked up---bet the one up will do the walking....car will sit still.....
