Post Bent Valve saga---Update

Here is an update on my bent valve.

Got the engine out of the car and I tore everything apart. I really whacked the #3 intake left a mark on the piston and I was unable to get the valve out of the head.

Shipped the heads off to EBS so they could work their magic to the tune of $1200 OUCH
For that I am getting

Standard valve job (3 angle grind) $395
resurface heads $125
12 valve guides $54
12 valve seals $18
3 intake valves $66
3 exhaust valves $96
Head gasket set $168
12 valve springs (set) $96
1 used cylinder head (old one was cracked)

I should have them back by May 28 which will give me 3 whole days to get everything put back together for Porsche Fest here in Charlotte NC. I don’t think that is going to happen.

Everything has gone smooth except I am still missing a valve keeper that got knocked off the #3 intake. I have fished through the case with a magnet but haven’t found it. Where could it have gone? Right now everything is off the engine except the cylinders as I didn’t want to worry about getting those back on correctly beside those case through studs are expensive and I think they are stretch bolts (correct me if I am wrong).

Wish me luck and as I install a new clutch and upgraded tensioners.

So this is shaving the mating surface. What is the resulting compression increase?

Osidak,

There's nothing wrong with a Targa! Why do you ask?

The wandering, missing valve keeper might be in one of the oil return tubes ...

Actually for what you are getting from EBS, ir sounds like a great deal! It could easily have been $1500 or $1800!

Why, if you don't mind me asking, are you only replacing 3 sets of valves? At those bargain prices, you ought to do ALL OF THEM!

Warren,
I am replacing the 6 valves because they say those got bent also. The other valves according to them are in great shape. My wallet is screaming at me so I figure if they say they are in good shape I might as well save a few dollars. I ask what is wrong with a targa because it seems many on this board do not care for them. I love mine.

Clark,
I do not know what the compression increase will be but I would image I won't see any hp gains as I loose a little clyinder volume as well.
