Post Ignition Rotors

How many Ohms resistance should a Dist. Rotor have. I found moisture under my cap and my car has a bad miss. I drove 16 Hours straigh no problem to Grand Rapids MI. I didn't start it yesterday and today it runs terrible. The rotor looks burnt now and I tried a old one and the car ran better but not great. They both have around 6000 ohms resistance. Is this about right? It rained about 5" the night I got here probably explaining the moisture.

Any help is appreciated.

Does anyone here live in Grand Rapids?

Doesn't sound like the rotor is the problem ... water, under cap, and other places, is most likely culprit! If water got inside cap, it is probably in the seven holes where the wires plug in, too! Clean and dry everything ... and I suspect your problem will be gone.

My spare rev-limiting rotor measures 5,554 Ohms from center to tip. Clean off the center and tip with wire brush and ink eraser, until reasonably shiny brass is visible. Those rotors are very reliable, and seldom cause problems!
