Getting ready to do an SSI and Muffler installation on my 3.2. Has anybody done one of these with the newer Dansk muffler? I am wondering how the sound is. Presently I have been using a cat bypass and a Borla exhaust and I really like the race car sound at higher rpms. I would be dissappointed if my car went back to the stock sound, even though I will be producing more Hp. The Dansk are a good deal. I can get a full polished one for $450. The nearest equivalent would be a Monte or Milla Miglia for almost twice the price. Seems diminished returns with these, especially after the $$$ for the SSI's and oil lines.

I'm glad you asked about this. I'm wondering the same about the Dansk. Also, aren't there 2 different versions of the Dansk for the Carrera? Does anyone also know the difference between them besides the price?

There is a stock size outlet exhaust and a larger one. I've got the larger one. It sounds pretty good but I was not happy with the way it extended out the back of the car. It came out too far and at an unnatural angle. I had to cut and grind it down to match the car. If you search I am sure somebody posted pictures of what I'm talking about. I have not heard a Borla so I can't really give you a fair comparison in sound.

I believe Nick Shumacher ( I'm sure I butchered his last name) has this set up on his SC.

Got a Dansk, single outlet from the SSI's in my 3.2. The sound is just right, slightly louder than stock.

do you 'feel' any performance difference with the dansk? i'm getting really close to going ahead and buying a muffler, but i don't want my car to sound ANYTHING like these hondas with the freakin' torpedo pipes... ------------------ Adam Nitti ajnitti@mindspring.com www.adamnitti.com '85 911 Carrera Coupe PCA member, Peachstate region |

My mechanic gets hold of some good prices. I am not sure. He gets a wholesale account and doesn't mark them up as much as Performance does, who by the way, have extremely high mark up.

Perf Prods/Automotion has very high overhead -- color catalogs, big showrooms and huge warehouse w/ inventory, lots of grunts working the phones and counters. They are a traditional bricks-and-mortar, inventory carrying distributor.
Guess who pays for all that????? |

I have the Dansk. I love it. It sounds great, and I love the dual outlets.
For the Carrera, you need to get the 2.4 or 2.7L Dual inlet muffler from Dansk with the outlets not yet welded on. You can then order the curved outlets for the Carrera muffler (only available with the single inlet sausage muffler for 3.2 with cat) and weld them on...or you can just tilt the ones that come with it downward about 20 deg and weld them on (this is how I did it).
