Clutch Arm Helper Spring for sale?

Hi, I was thinking of replacing my clutch cable and helper spring as a first step in solving a clutch problem I am having with my '85. Sometimes it only wants to go halfway into first (while stopped) or won't go into second very easily during a shift (very slight grind). Most times running through another gear helps get it all the way into first, but I'm not apt to try that going into any other gear while moving. I've no idea when the last owner had these replaced so it looks like a good start.

Does any one know where to find Helper Springs for sale? It looks like they are no longer available on Pelican Parts.

Thanks

Uh oh. As I run to my old parts box, to see if I saved my old omega spring.... Yikes, not good.

I needed one last year in the UK, and they were NLA from the OPC too. Euro Car Parts in the UK have reproductions in stock and van-delivered same day to my wrench.

Can't find it on their web site, but they carry a lot of stuff that's not on there, apparently.

I put in an email with a mechanic friend. Maybe his parts suppliers have some left...

Oh yeah, looks like I tossed my good, used one a year and a half ago.

hi guys, thanks for the the quick responses. and thanks slodave for taking a look in your own stash for me =[ i'll be interested to know how the email to your wrench turns out.

MBEngineering - well, I have a used one in there right now =] I just assumed that new was the only option but I suppose it really doesn't matter as long as the spring isn't worn out. I'm not sure how one would determine that but at this point it looks like I should take what I can get.

Thanks again!

Does anyone know if the helper spring for the Turbo would work in this situation. They apparently are available...?

My mechanic friend can get them, but they are aftermarket. Not sure that it matter though.

wow...that one at vertex seems a good price at $64! aftermarket schmaftermarket ....I'm not showing the car so that particular detail won't bother me too much. Thats really great, thanks alot.

slodave, should I get in touch with your friend to enquire his price and if it is aftermarket or not? I don't want to put you out any more than I already have, so I can call/email him instead of middle-manning you if you want. =]

Thanks!

He can't beat the Vertex price, but I'll PM you his info anyway.
