Is this G50 missing something?
Doesn't seem like Porsche would leave these gaping holes in the bellhousing. There are 3 - one up by the clutch slave cylinder, and 2 more along the driver's side. Bentley sheds no light on the issue.
Are there some cover plates missing? Or is this just the way those crafty Germans intended? http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1208395782.jpg Also, to someone who used to own a bug, that loose nut at the bottom looks suspiciously like one of the 4 that hold the engine to the transmission. Luckily my car was professionally serviced by a reputable shop in its prior life. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1208395810.jpg |
Hole #1 is at the slave cyl, If I remember wright that has a cover. Holes #2&3 are correct. Tighten up the loose nut.

Hole #1 is covered by a rubber plug pn# 950.301.151.01

Thanks! Will order, along with a new CHT sensor (I still appear to have the single wire type - why anyone would replace the clutch and not do this update at the time is beyond me ...)

Yep. #1 is the hole you look thru to make sure the slave pushrod is contacting the release fork in the right location. Never understood why they made the hole so big.
#2 is the hole you must have to R&R the release fork cross shaft. #3 is a inspection hole for what reason I dunno. Lets you see if your clutch bolts are coming loose? Heck yeah that loose nut is for connecting the trans to the engine! Yikes. There's a lot of dampness around the bellhousing. I'd check the breather hose atop the engine- it's probably as hard as a rock and doesn't seal anymore. Also could have a leak at the other usual suspects- thermostat and oil pressure idiot light switch. |
