Smog Test Data

On the BBS a while ago, there were a few SC owners who had removed their cats, and mentioned they had no trouble passing a smog test. I would be very interested if these same people could post their actual test numbers (CO, NOX, HC). I'd like to compare your numbers with my local test requirements.

I'm not an SC owner, and I don't have to conform to smog regulations, but I believe the problem with the cat was not the actual numbers (which a well-tuned 911 should be able to pass without a cat) but the visual portion of the test, where the presence of all the smog-related components has to be confirmed by the tester.

I can completely attribute my failed smog not to a cat, but to a failed airbox. I measured with a cat pipe, and it failed miserably, then with a cat, and it still failed miserably and didn't pass until the airbox was replaced. My bet is, you can go with a cat pipe, and if everything else is in order, you'll likely pass.

Thanks guys, but what I'm trying to find out is what *actual* numbers come up in the smog test without a cat. Locally, a car as old as an '81 SC has quite a bit of latitude to pass, so I'm hoping I won't have to bolt my cat back on just for the test.

When my SC was stock -euro model-no cat, I got about 400 HC and 1.5 CO if I remember correctly. Well below the limits. I would lean it out and disconnect your 02 if it wont pass on its on and see what happens(it has been about three years now!)

Thanks rattlsnak (great username!)
Those numbers are what I'm looking for.
Any other "catless" SC's out there with test numbers to share?
