BBS wheel swap today on Ruby Red cabrio - not liking it
 

I guess the title says it all. I got these wheels recently and tried them on last night. Looked at it today... I like the way they fill out the wells (7 and 8x16's), but not diggin the gold at all, Plus the centercaps look funny to me. I am thinking they might look better with satin black centers, or even the whole wheel that color... Oh well, back on with the Fuchs for now...

I was in a hurry last night, so did not look, but will tomorrow.

I'm a barbarian. I like em better than the Fuchs.

Not trying to hijack, but on the topic of gold BBS's - I was just about to ask what the gen. public thinks of this combo... I'm torn whether to get these 16" wheels completely redone in a different colour, or try harder to find 17" replacements and keep these 3-pc wheels original (any good reason?).

Personally, I have never liked gold - not in houses or on cars.

Those 3 piece definitely beat the look of the one piece I have above.

FWIW, I actually think those look pretty nice on your car. Maybe you could go more of a Porsche Platinum, or maybe some sort of charcoal grey...

I was thinking dark-ish color as well. Maybe deep charcoal, on the flatter side (satin paint, maybe). Other option is to get them converted to 17" and refinish in different color. Damn my poor photoshop skills!

I'm not in this expensive hobby for the investment, but if they would be better to try keep "original" size/color, I can appreciate that.

Just get new halves and upgrade to 17". It is a decision you will not regret.

BBS gold is the correct vintage look.

However, I had my 3-piece BBSs disassembled and painted the centers dark metallic gray. Probably too much for a lighter colored car.

I like my BBS wheels, they are certainly period, plus for good or bad they're different than the rest of the fleet.

One thing about the 2 and 3 piece BBS wheels is they have more "pop" because the centers have a larger diameter. Just look at the 1 piece wheels that Shane has on his car and there appears to be a vast difference in size. Another thing is the 2 and 3 piece lips are usually polished and that makes a difference, too.

The BBS wheels are light and strong - They are about a lb a wheel lighter than similiar sized fuchs - What most people do not realize is that the gold bbs wheels were considered an upgrade to fuchs in the day and most of the race teams used bbs wheels on their cars because they were light and strong and had better brake cooling.

mine were gold, but I chose to get them repainted and polished...

Not bad, but I would paint the webbing silver or black and then i think they would look really good. If you also polish the lip, that would look even better. They do fill the wheel wells nicely.

Dang it, I like them. i want to get rid of my polished cc's and put some of those of my narrow body.

I stripped and painted mine. It is a lot of work.

Do the same, or go back to Fuchs...

Shane, something just looks a little off. They look like something that you would see on a Honda or Mazda. I guess that I am used to seeing the type of the BBS wheels like mine. Tony.SmileWavy
