Seat rail adapters

I am replacing the stock seats in my '70 911 with a set of highbacks from a later car. I know that there is an adapter made for this, but it costs $75 smackers per seat. Has anyone made their own adapter and if so do you have a pattern that I could use?
Thanks in advance.
Mark

Mark,
I have some brackets that I made, and would be more than glad to send a bracket that you can duplicate..since all your troubles with the seat belts. Speaking of which, did you get the box we sent you?

I was just doing an archive search and found this from not too long ago. I'd like to resurrect this thread...

I have a '72 and some seats from an '82. Same problem, I need to fabricate adapters too.

I have access to a machine shop and should be able to make a set fairly easily. I'm not interested in paying $150+ for something I can make with $5 of stock and an hour of labor.

Would anyone be willing to share the dimensions/measurements from the adapter brackets with me?

Thanks,
Charlie

I have the adapters as supplied by Wheel Source for my Momo re-fitting. Turns out they wouldn't work for the very early vintage (72'). They are supposedly correct for 74 and up.

If you're interested, I'll make you a good deal on them.

I went to local hardware store and
got some bar stock 3"X 48 X 1/8 " steel.
Marked where the old seat rails aligned
with the body and drilled holes corresponding to that on the stock. The
newer P seats are narrower so you need to
mark the new hole for the mounting those
seats as well. Buy some high quality
bolts to anchor the seat and use the
OEM ones to anchor the bars. You
do lose some height in this process.
I also built an loop anchor for my
seat belts and welded it to a plate
between the two seats. Be aware that
the height of the two rails is not the
same. Got to compensate for that.
Boy was I glad to lose those original
"bucket" seats! THey are in safe storage
but never to return in my car.

HTH.

Mark, I did exactly what Zotman has done, only I used 50x50mm angle. The carrera seats I installed didn't come with adjusting rails however, so I've set them up for just me until I get some. As part of these angle brackets I made up, I also attached the new seatbelts. Sorry I don't have any photos for you at the moment.

I think Tlook has probably your best answer!

Cheers
