I finally got the time to replace my flexible brake hoses on my 911 SC. Thanks to advise from several people, I opted to replace with the flexible instead of SS. The rear hoses went in very easy thanks to my new set of Craftsman flare nut wrenches. The front hoses are a little more awkward to replace because of the location of the struts and rotor. In replacing the left front hose I became aware that the previous wrench or owner rounded off the flare nut pretty well. I had a bugger of a time getting it off, having to resort to vise grips to grab the flare nut. Well, as you can imagine the flare nut is pretty mangled up and I would like to replace the entire hard line from the caliper to the flex hose (about 4-5 inches). Anyone know where I can get this particular hard line with flare nuts part? Your help and assistance is greatly appreciated.

Eric,
The same thing happened to me when I upgraded to the SS braided lines. I got one from Carquip, a used parts house. I'm sure you could get one from Stoddards, or any dealer or used parts house. Make sure you get the right one, as they varied in length throughout the years. Took me an hour of digging thru the box of them to get the right size. They can be bent a little to accomodate your application. Nick. ------------------ _ _ __ _ _ Nick Shumaker 1982 911SC Coupe nickshu@yahoo.com PCA -- Rocky Mtn. Region |

Thanks Nick. I was able to get the line reattached and it should be OK but I will still look for a replacement for the near future. The flare nut is the worst of my worries now. I was bleeding the brakes and I snapped off the right rear bleeder valve>*!^#!! dam. I guess now I have to take the caliper off and try to use an easy out or drill out the remaining screw huh?

Eric:
I recently bought new, straight lengths of hard line in about 4 to 6 inch lengths at the Pep Boys in my area. The came with flare nuts on each end. I used them to make a loop to install stainless lines on my 912. You should be able to buy the length pretty close to the old line & bend it. They're easy to bend & really sturdy. Get or borrow a tubing bender & you can make them any shape you want. Good luck. ------------------ Marv Evans '72 911E |

Pelican Parts carries all of the hard brake lines that you'll need.
