any tricks to getting those little clips in without the P special tool??

If you are talking about the spiral clips, there are two per side and you must first stretch tehm out about 3/4 of an inch and then you can feed them around using a very small screwdriver to press them into the fit.

with the clip held by the thumb and forefinger, aim the open end of the clip diagonally into the hole. position it so the notches in the wrist pin bore don't catch the clip as it's pushed in. push firmly with your thumb and it will compress and go most if not all the way in. finish the installation with a small screwdriver. put one in each piston while they're on the bench, slide in the wrist pin and install the other. adjust it to snap in all the way with a small screwdriver. count them first (12) and then you know you didn't forget one.
