Trans problems

I have an 82 SC. I owned this car about 10 years ago, sold it, and recently aquired it again. The shift on the trans has always been difficult in 3rd to second, and sometimes into 1st when sitting still. I'm not sure if I have a syncro problem, or if the shift mechanism itself might have a defective part since the severity hasn't change over the past 10 years. Any ideas?

it wouldn't hurt to look at the shifter bushings. one under the shifter on the bottom of the handle, one just behind it that guides the shift rod, and a coupler in the tunnel, accessable by removing the plate in front of the rear seat on the tunnel. if it hasn't changed in 10 years, it's probably internal. syncros, operating sleeves, the usual.

I thought since it hasn't gotten worse that the chances were good that it wasn't the syncro's sleeve etc? Thanks, I'll check what you suggested.
