Sway-A-Way spring plates -> show they be any slop??
 

I posted a while ago about chasing a "thump", and may be getting closer.

I think its some loosness in the drivers side plastic bushings that are used by the adjustable sway-a-way spring plates that I use.

Does anyone know:

1 - How tight should the bushings be? The spring plates I bought used, and so are the bushings, although they seems pretty "tight" when I put them in.

2 - How right is the standard rubber or neatrix ones?

3 - Can I get rubber or neatrix for the sway-a-ways?

4 - Who sources new bushings for the sway-a-ways?

Mike, I have no answers, but I think it is best not to post on a Sunday! BB

When I installed my 83 SC, the bushings needed to be shaved so that they would fit.

If you bought them used, maybe they were trimmed to fit another car that had a tighter/smaller fit....

Now on the 74, they fit as-is. So I would conjecture that a tight fit is a good fit.

I just put mine on a few weeks ago, and their was no slop at all. In fact I bought a spare set of weltmeister bushings because the inner ones would not even get close to going in. So If you need a set of the orange bushings for the inside of the adjuster plate, I'll give them to you for $20 including shipping(US only). Thanks , ED

Thanks for the offer Ed, I may take you up on that. I did not know that Weltmeister made the bushings for the sway-a-aways...I thought they were only made by the manufacturer of the adjustable spring plates.

Are we talking about the same parts here? Just to confirm, I do not have the original 83SC adjustable spring plates, but the sway-a-ways, which use an allen bold and two plates to be able to "dial" in the height. Great for corner balancing! However, the bushings on these plates are special for these plates only.

Please confirm.
