Over the weekend I tried to adjust my idle down a bit on my 87 carrera (it was running 50+- rpms to high. I shorted the proper circuit under the black cover on the left side of the engine and turned the adjustment screw. When I figured out nothing was happening w/the turning I stopped. Someone had said the contacts need to be cleaned well before the shorting will work and the idle will change. I did not adjust the idle screw back to the original location because I (idiot) did not keep track of the location.
Now I notice a big puff of white smoke when I start the car after setting for a 8 hours. If has never smoked at any time prior. Could someone please tell me if this is related to screwing around with the adjustment screw? I know it is now out of wack. Will properly setting the idle to where it should be after getting a good contact on the short repair this? Confused - Michael W |

Sorry about the typing errors. To rephrase, my car(87 3.2) has never smoked at any time before. Now I get a big puff of white smoke on startup. Was this caused by turning the idle adjustment screw without properly shorting?
