Gas Tank paint

I finished the gas tank clean and seal yesterday, the Eastwood system does a nice job of cleaning out the varnish and rust - total cost was about $70 (in addition to the kit itself you need to buy Muriatic acid and a quart of acetone). Before I put the tank back in, I'm thinking about cleaning it up and giving it a coat of paint - what is correct to the car? Is it body color? Something else? There appears to be some texture to the existing paint.
Thanks Pelicans.

Jeff

Try the Grey Wurth underbodyseal it appears to be the original material.

Did the acid and cleaner do anything to the plastic baffle inside the tank?

Lorne,
I don't think there is a baffle in my tank - it's a '70T. Nothing but some varnish residue came out of the tank... So the paint you suggest is appropriate for the top of the tank?

cheers,
Jeff

FWIW my '69's gas tank was covered with (what looked like) the same 'undercoating' material as the under-body/fender wells/etc.

Although it appeared to have a very 'light' coating above and thicker underneath. Makes since, as you do want to protect the exposed lower tank from rocks and minor road debris.

You can purchase the undercoat gun and the underbody seal from another Pcar/OOO dealer initials "S", PP doesnt but might be able to.

Anybody know what grey paint color matches th original?

My surface texture is in good shape - I'd just like to paint it.

Jeff
