Why was my topic closed?

I posted a thread about PAP replacment parts. I'm considering buying a transmission from them and I wanted your opinions. However, my thread was closed before any replies were given. Did I hit a wrong button? Was I censored?

David...
Yes, the thread is down there on the list, but it is definitely closed.

Guess advertising the competition's stuff on this website is a no-no?

That topic was locked, big time. I see a big old lock on that thread.

Later...

Okay, I checked out their site. They're a direct competitor of Pelican. I mean, practically a web-site rip off of Pelican.
Anyway, I'm not surprised that thread got the old lockaroo, when it's PP that's footin' all the bandwidth for us posters...

Does Pelican even sell transmissions? If not, no competition.

seems to me (just a guess) that the lock was not intentional. I've seen lots of things involving other parts sellers here, and have never, ever seen one censored. but I may be totally wrong.

No, I have seen topics closed because competitors parts were discussed. Wayne doesn't like that.

I didn't see pure transmissions there...I just saw transmission parts. They're a direct competitor. Wayne did the right thing by pulling the plug on that baby

Well, for the record, they do sell transmissions and that was what I was asking about. Simply because I like this website and PP has given me good service in the past, I wouldn't inquire about a competitor for a part I could get from PP. However, as a webmaster I would feel funny censoring such questions.

I suspect Wayne locked the message because he does not want threads that discredit other Porsche vendors, regardless of whether they are direct competitors. We've all read the posts about folks' experiences with an unamed engine builder. If you check out the 914 forum, you'll find a thread dis'ing another Atlanta-based company. I'm sure all this is not good for Pelican Parts. You could always go ask on the Usenet group or on Rennlist.

Disclaimer: This is just my take on the situtation.
