Heh Heh Heh,
Well this guy is somewhat more honest than most... But check out: - The interior "Pretty good for a 30 year old car" in which case the one on mine qualifies for Pebble Beach. - That gas-tank flap looks sunken as if the hinge has crumbled away or something... - The fan/engine seem to sloping down slightly - and the whole engine bay screams "Neglect! Expensive neglect!" - And as for the front luggage compartment - I shudder to think what's underneath; what's attaching the torsion bars to the rest of the car - bondo and air maybe? Oh well... - roGER |

I like this admission: "This is not a running car by any means." |

Anyone want to guess what color the car USED to be (note trunk and engine bay pics)? Man, who sprayed that thing?
"Naw don't worry about the hinges, just leave em ...." Well, at least my 914 runs and drives. All I can say is R-U-N! That is a money sink like nothing else. Look, you take 550A Spyders, some 356's, 914/6s,916s etc in that kind of condition, but not that. Yes, I would take a 914/6 in that kind of condition, and I'd shell out the cash, but I have a serious 914/6 (3,300 produced total) weakness. ------------------ Kurt B '84 Carrera Cab. carrera_cabriolet@yahoo.com [This message has been edited by Kurt B (edited 05-21-2001).] |

Interesting, half the photos show the headlight trim rings to be chrome and in good shape. The other half shows them with the chrome chipped/flaked off, and showing black underneath.

cheap price!
buy it, beat the hell out of it, drive it 10/10ths. when it's dead... part it out, or send it to a dismantler. in the meantime, don't put a penny into it. there's a lot of 911s in that condition in the Northeastern US. i've seen worse driving along the roads. obin |

I think I am going to enter this car in a concours. When I win, I will post on this board of my glorious victory.

I didn't notice the subtitle to this auction before:
"Easy Restoration Project". I guess it depends on what the definition of 'easy' is ........ ------------------ 1971 911T - 2.5L Big Bore |

I really don't think that post is that bad. The guy tells you where stuff is rusted out and even shows some pictures. FWIW I think that car is sitting in a junk yard somewhere. Someone pointed out that on one picture, the headlight rims are black, and on another they are chrome. If you notice the color of the grass, it's green in one (like summer or spring) and in the other it's brown (like winter) AND YET THE BMW IN THE BACKGROUND HAS NOT MOVED!!! (LOL!!)
If I was able to see the thing up close and the rust wasn't too bad AND I had the space and time for a REAL project, I might consider buying that car. Unfortunately for me I don't have the space or the time for it!Good luck to who ever picks it up. You should be kept busy for years of fun

Hello
A true car nothing hidden if it would be a rare S it would be maybe worth the parts..... Noone seems to care a T or 912. So we will see it again as 993 conversion over rust. Grüsse |

Bill's right about that--taken over a long period of time. If you can see rust like that in the trunk, it's over. You have to look at the rocker panels; I always go on like this, but my 914 doesn't look too bad rust wise, but the jackpoints are broken off, the rocker panels look like swiss cheese, the clutch cable frame housing rusted away so badly the cable gets pulled into the frame when you actuate the clutch (or did, until I mickeymoused a fix).
Not for that rust, I'd be working on her right now. Let me repeat: this is only worthwhile on cars with very, very small production numbers: like a 914/6. Someone want to sell me a 914/6 in that condition for that price? I'll pay cash tomorrow. ------------------ Kurt B '84 Carrera Cab. carrera_cabriolet@yahoo.com |
