OAky Here we go .. ANOTHER blown airbox thread
Okay I am sure you guys have talked this to death so I will keep it brief and to the point ...
I have a 78SC that the airbox just blew. 1. I have read that this can be done with a partial drop , is this the "partial - partial " drop in the tech forum ? doesn't seam like I would have enough room this way . 2. Is there a procedure for the box removal ? I can't find it , am I removing just the box or the runners too all in one piece ? That is all , the rest I have found through searches . Thank for any help you can provide. ice |
easy enough to do, remove the rear motor mount bolts, remove the shift coupler and lower the back of the engine down. Remove the air boot, remove the cruise control cable bracket and pull it up enough to get under the box and remove the breather hose and remove that.
Disconnect the electrical and the fuel lines, tilt up and pull forward. Pretty easy actually. |
CIS?
If the lower portion blew, it's a somewhat major ordeal to pull everything off and reinstall. I just went through this (had the CIS off for freshening up, general engine assessment and to replace my lower airbox where the stupid plastic tab for the straps broke off). I'll do a write up later, but it's pretty involved. |
Thanks Guys .. yes it is a CIS being a 78SC , and yes the lower part blew apart from the upper part. Maybe I am missundestanding something but I don't see it as being that easy , the airbox s fastened to all the runners .. so they come off with the air box ?
If the partail drop will do it for me I am game for sure. Porsch-o- file I fee for ya.. at least mine completely exploding making it seam worth while. :-) |
