Does anyone have the part numbers or any idea how to get new distributor springs for my 1971 911e? I called Stoddards and they couldn't help.
Thanks Scott |

No, I don't know of a source for exact replacement springs for Bosch distributor springs.
There a couple of possibilities ... A large, well-equipped US speed shop might have some springs for the 'old' hotrods' distributors. Several US companies such as Isky, Holley, Moroso, etc. have sold spring assortments in the past for 'recurving' distributors, and there is not much variation in the dimensions for those springs. Many electronics parts suppliers sell large spring assortments for use in repairing tape decks, VCRs, etc. One such source is at the following URL: http://www.i-mcm.com/welcome.jhtml Good luck. ------------------ Warren Hall 1973 911S Targa |

I see quite a bit of springs and weights at Autozone, PEP-boys & Kragen here in CA.
This kit is from Mr. Gasket and retails for $4.99 (I think). I have bought these to recurve my distributor on my Chevy trucks equipped with HEI distributor. I would try and find what the curve is supposed to be, then try the strongest springs first and work down the lighter springs. Use a dial-back to zero timing light and "map" your curve using either 500 RPM or 1000RPM increments until it is as close as you can get your distributor to factory. Don't forget to get the curve spec'd with all vacuum, advance or retard, lines disconnected. Good luck. ------------------ Nick Hromyak '85 Carrera 7 & 9 Fuchs Havin' Fun in Sacramento |
