removing carrera sidescript
just bought a 1972 gulf blue 911T. i would like to remove the sidescript which was placed on the car 10 to 15 years ago. car has been inside and seldom driven since a repaint in original 328 color code in the early nineties. i would appreciate advice or a thread link to solve this problem. thanks, and yes i did a search on this and the body forum...but no luck!

Use a heat gun or hair dryer to soften the vinyl slowly, without overheating the paint, and peel it off with your fingers. Use 3M Adhesive Remover to take off any glue residual. Rewax the area.
Having been on the car that long, there may be some fading of the paint around it, even if it was stored inside, and the areas where the script letters were will still show darker, depending on its exposure. Some buffing or colorsanding may help reduce the visibility, and over time, the darker areas should fade from further exposure as well, and hopefully disappear, eventually. TT |
+1 on the heat gun and adhesive remover. I used heat gun and some putty spreaders. I think there is plastic razors also? I have seen these but never used one.
