Need help - Fuel Injection (desperate)

I'm trying to track down a "control unit" for my '82 SC 911 fuel injection system...at least that's what my mechanic is referring to it. I believe it has something to do with the oxygen sensor. Does this go by another name?

Help would be greatly appreciated. My mechanic is a well-meaning German with little patience and communication skills...so I'm running this down for him as we are located in rural Montana and I don't know have many places to turn.

Thanks,
Dan

You must mean the ecu or "brain" or "computer". Dont call it a DME when looking for rebuilt units. I THINK Pelican might have new ones. I know you can get them rebuilt for much, much less.

Ask Loren if he can rebuild your 911SC brain thingey, and while he is at it, can he install fiberglas fender flares, do an AC delete and track down a brake upgrade kit for your front brakes only......sorry, couldn't help myself.

Your 911SC will operate in "limp home" mode until you get the ecu back, but it won't run well. It'll run rich. I'm sure you will get lots of recommendations for places that will rebuild the ecu/brain. You might try calling Pelican, or Ottos Venice, or track down Steve Wong at 911chips.com.

I think you are referring to the what is commonly called the "Lambda brain" or "Lambda box". Ask him if it is the box under the passenger seat. If so, that's exactly what you need. I've got one from an '83 if you need a replacement.

they run lean when the frequency valve is not functioning. be sure the relay next to the brain has power from the domelight fuse and in turn powers the brain. that's the usual problem. kind of rare to need a brain.

Hello Dave (DTW),
He is referring to a unit that attaches to the engine. Any other thoughts?
Thanks,
Dan

He may be referring to the warmup regulator, which controls the CIS system pressure. Rebuilt units are available. Not sure if Pelican sells them.

Control unit......

Dan,

Instead of guessing which part you really need, it would help a lot if you identify it. A picture showing the 'subject' would be more meaningful and you'll get better responses. My guess is your mechanic might be talking about the WUR too. My two-cents.

Hi Tony,

Maybe my initial post wasn't clear enough. The part/unit is missing off of an engine I purchased. So, I don't have a part number or picture to refer to...I wish I had.

My well-meaning, but poor communicating German mechanic refers to it as "the control unit for the fuel injection system".

Thanks
Dan
