Checking Operation of Front Oil Cooler?

With all this talk of temperature, it's starting to get hot here in Florida. The last time I drove my car before the wiring harness spontaneously combusted, I noticed the temperature gauge had crept up to beyond the 9 o'clock position.

When the harness went, I opened the engine lid to make sure I didn't have a fire, and it was HOT in there. I have the Carrera, fender mounted oil cooler, but no fan. Also, I'm not sure if there is a termostat for the cooler either.

Is there a way to verify is oil is flowing through the cooler?

Thanks!!

If there's oil flowing, then it will be very warm.

If your oil cooler is hot it is working.Maybe you need a better cooler. My TerbaTronics fender oil cooler kept my 911 20 degrees warmer than cold NY winter operating temperatures while running on S.Calif HY 10 at 90 to 100 MPH in 112 degrees desert heat for hours. At 110 MPH engine temp did rise another 10 degrees so I slowed to 100 because I was on a conserative road trip.Stock fender oil coolers are OK but not good enough for me.
