oil return tube questions

Hello, I just installed all 4 tubes in my 1982SC. I still seem to have a leak issue and was wondering a few things about the tubes, and jacking procedure

1). can the tubes actually be pushed too far into their sockets, where circlip in it's groove isn't touching the lip of the larger tube half?

2). can/should I "seat" my tubes by turning them are the ends after they are installed

3). I jacked the car up by the engine (behind the sump plate). I now have a slight leak where the two halfs of the engine case are joined in front of the sump. Should I re-torque this nut in front of the sump.

4). is it known for these leaks to clear up on their own (grasping for straws :-)

any, and all input appreciated

thanks,

Bill

sometimes part of the green seal hangs up and doesn't get completely seated into the hole. check them all with a mirror and flashlight. the slow seepage at the case halves between sump plate and transmission is normal on most engines with higher mileage. not much you can do about it, cheaply.
