My SC gearchange is weird. The lever seems to jam in gear and then jumps out with a loud click when you pull/push it.
It feels as if the problem is within the linkage at the front. Any suggestions? Cheers |

The swinish type 915 transmission is arguably the worst feature of the 1970s 911s.
Check out the "Search" feature on this board for (probably) hundreds of posts and suggestions on how to tweak it. Without much info, you might want to replace the plastic bushings below the gear lever - they disintegrate over time. You can make various small adjustments to the plate that holds the gear lever, and the linkage itself. But at the end of the day, this is an alkward, bualky transmission - always change gear slowly, try and drive the car sympathetically (i.e. use the gas pedal to get the revs mire or less right for shifts so the sychromesh has less work to do). Never force the transmission. If you have problems selecting first at rest, try moving the stick into second gear position, then move it into first. Sorry, but there seem to be no magic cures for this gearbox. - roGER |
