Targa Tasmania 2008 In Real Time

Hi all,
My father and I just finished the Prologue stage today and are posting our preparatio, travel and in-car footage as we go...so enjoy!

Click on the "Targa Videos" page to see the in-car footage, or on the Travel/Park Firme/Prologue links to see pics of the days. With over 300 cars entered we are seeing all kinds of great drives and people. Ask if you want any more pics of an individual car, we're all locked up together and have pretty much unfettered access.

I'll add more comments and notes to the photos soon, off to the dinner events now.

Here you go, the first of the Chasecam videos from Targa Tasmania 2008. I've posted my favorites first, I'll most more later. Lots of pics up, lots more to come. Here's the direct link for the videos only:

Awesome event, no rain all week and some great runs.

Only some of the videos are up, still working on them. If you mouse over the video "thumbnails" some of them are live, just click on them.

Very cool, John. Top down in the Targa. I watched the Elephant Saddle stage. That road was made for a 911. Enjoy & drive safe.

OK, all 23 videos are up now. They are all in WMV format, if there are any special requests I can post MPEGs which are dvd quality but take ages to upload.

The favorites are Hellyer Gorge, Mt Arrowsmith (30 minutes!,) Tungatinah (M3 and near 911 crashes) and Cethana (still uploading.)

Right-click and download to avoid buffering issues or click and wait for Windows to buffer. The left/right g-meter is accurate, the fore/aft is not due to mounting issues (cable broke and needed to mount in a tilted position)

If you listen carefully the soundtracks include:

Full-volume Learn-to-speak-German in the Beaconsfield stage
"Tie Me Kangaroo Down Sport" through Devonport
Highway to Hell
Piece of **** Car by Adam Sandler

and so on....

More pics on the way, in the meantime enjoy!

Looks like great fun! Thanks. Are the ferns really that big as seen behind you in pic 3?

Yep, that's up Weldborough Pass where you go through some rainforest areas. The photographer who took that actually startled me as I was looking exactly in front of him to the next apex when his flash went off. He was buried back behind the ferns in the foreground.
